How to weigh your base in Clan Wars – Updated Sheet
Have you ever asked yourself why your Clan is being matched up against much stronger Clans in Clan Wars? With all the recent changes and developments, I have been reworking this guide here from the ground for Basically, you and your clan members get points for everything you have — you get defensive points depending on the Levels of each of your Defenses, you get attacking points for your Troop Levels and Spell Levels, your Heroes levels, and what you, theoretically, could create to attack someone.

In reality, it will generate hours of waiting times because you have to wait until such a clan is searching for a Clan War at the same time as your clan does. This is the reason why the matchmaking does create problems right now.
The algorithm simply takes far too long to make a perfect Clan War match, so with the time going by the algorithms starts to also check for clans that are not a perfect match, but a close match — so you might war against a clan that will be slightly stronger or slightly weaker than your clan. This helps not searching for days to find a matching clan but in return created unfair wars. This was the status quo for a long time, but then suddenly engineering got more and more popular.
This will make the base look weaker for the algorithm, but the person is able to perform with maxed troops 2 full attacks and might get 6 Stars for only offering easier 3 Stars from his base on defense. Supercell has made several bigger changes to the war matchmaking algorithm during the past months and I want to show them and what could be the reason why you get mismatches, but first I would like to define what a war mismatch is.
At a side note, attacking the mirror is the worst war strategy out there but still performed by so many clans — I got a better one for you here:. In the second half of , Supercell reworked a huge part of the war matchmaking algorithm to make it work for the broad player field. Simply spoken, they worked on matching clans with engineered bases more often with clans that have engineered bases and maxed clans with other maxed clans. Of course, there will never ever be a matchmaking algorithm that will prevent you from getting one single mismatch, but the path is the right although still in need of more tweaking.
The algorithm, as in the state of today, will compare your defensive and offensive weights and identify if there is an imbalance. You might not believe me, but doing a proper research on your clan members bases you take to war can be worth it when you get mismatches not 1 in 10 times but like 5 or more in 10 times! So checking every single member can be tough and you can take a simple first step when checking your clan using the website cocp.
This clan has an engineering score of There are many myths around when it comes to time, so I also want to briefly cover this here as it has an influence. According to cocp. The most popular times are GMT Help Supercell improve the algorithm! There is a thread in the official forum where you can report your mismatch and this will get closer analyzed by Supercell. You will not get a response there, but your data is being processed if you believe you got outmatched.

While my troops are training, batteries are loading and chests are unlocking I like to keep myself busy with skydiving. War searching takes forever. And yes, I would rather have a slight mismatched than to wait for days to find an opponent. Eventually, it would even improve my attacking style. If supercell doesnt work on this problem, a lot of players will start to get bored and frustrated and eventually just leave the game.
Do they have any plans of working on this problem? Nice that Supercell still can come up with excuses for why they continue to not get things right. New war matching algorithm still gives us bad match ups except now they take 4 to 10 times longer. Thank you. Great article, and link. A LOT of info to process. My main question is what is an acceptable engineering score before you should consider making changes to the war line up? Clash on!
Another thing I think supercell should address is when the clan is spread across levels. We have th6 to th They are not engineered, but if we want to war over 10 players, we need to include our th6. They should start to include the power potion in the count, I have a third account , which I use the power potion to play like a max Not sure it is fair… opinion?
The trick now is upgrade your base. Since we have left the engineer tactic and have strong bases, we get match fairly. We win or lose depending on how good we are. They play better, they win. I do not believe you. Have been waiting over 90 minutes so far and no match. If it is going to take this long each time we war, then to H with this game. Besides, I pity the poor suckers who still have faith in Supercell. This new war matching will end up being worse than before.
War Matchmaking times vary from a couple of hours to more than a few days — even with very little wars 5 v5. About engineered bases… we were losing a lot of wars against engineered clans so I built a th6 engineered. The New Vipers, have had 41 successive wars matched against more th11s than us. Here is the typical behavior pattern of those cheaters: War starts, within first hours enemy makes attacks which often fails. Then no enemy attacks for the next hours but they watching most of your attacks.
I notice this pattern at every war against location China, seems to me they are the master cheaters but in general many others follow the same pattern which I believe is a strong indication for mods usage war simulation cheats. Without war what is the use of playing coc. How long do you let the search run before you restart? Have you tried searching at a different time? What size are you looking for?
Would you rather like to get mismatched and war against a clan that rips you in pieces? You mentioned. Why is that? The algorithm marks lopsided bases — that means that the level of defense is not matching the level of offense, nothing else. The more this gap is, the more likely the base will pull down your clans chances to get a fair match and the more likely you will get matched against a clan with many engineered bases.
Jimmy, great Info. I simply set a timer, and get on and if we have no opponent, i will reset the Search. Anytime i fail to reset and time goes over mins is when we get a MisMatch. Sometimes to our benefit, but usually its a bad Matchup for us! Thanks for all your hard work!! Love this Website!! Interesting article. Thanks again. You might also want to check if there are rushed bases in the lineup, they also tend to mess up with your matchmaking. Those wars are all logged by cocp.
Great site, I use it all the time. Not very well researched. How can that sight see weight of clan, when not at war? All in all complete rubbish. By the way, I never had this error myself though several others here did. Also, why are you interested in seeing it when not going to war?! The cocp. Great article though. Those that already have engineered, would be limited to the th offensive troops available to the defense they have achieved.
So, an engineered th11 with lvl 50 heroes may be reduced to lvl 30 for war same as troops. This would balance war based on defense and troop levels would be balanced down to match for war. Would make it fun again. What do you mean is not working? It says internal error. Thanks so much! They need to go by town hall level that will stop the abuse as first level to choosing matches. And people should wait for a good match without complaining.
I have been ready to quit after starting my clan 3 years ago. How about we got 5 max queens and we only had 1.

Matchmaking for wars in Clash of Clans is a very important item, because when the matchmaking is too lopsided, you are basically locked in a terrible situation for the entire war, and since clan wars are the primary source of fun in the game for many including most in our clan , that can really sap the fun out of the game. Supercell is constantly tweaking how matchmaking works, but unfortunately right now its still an issue we recently had a war where we faced an engineered clan that had enough TH11 attacks to cover all our TH11, TH10, and TH9 bases , so here is a post suggesting how to improve it. The first and biggest change would be to have a cap on war weight for offense that is easily reached. Here is how the cap would work: The exception to this would be the royals; each level of a royal would continue to add weight. The weight of each upgrade would be tied to the TH tier, so upgrading say your dragons to TH8 levels would be significantly less weight than upgrading dragons to TH11 rank. The system would always take your highest four upgrades, which would include spells. Also, the first upgrade would weight more than the fourth, so even a base that only upgrades dragons and lighting a viable attack when hitting down would still have a fairly high war weight offensively. Right now its effective to limit yourself to only dragons, but its not fun for most players. Also while having access to more troops is a form of power, its not as crushing as an engineered base hitting a full tier below them, because a good base will be designed to defend against all attacks, and the game is currently balanced for this. Defensively every upgrade, including walls, should continue to add weight, as those upgrades actually do matter in terms of the overall difficulty of beating a base.
