The modules introduce students to Aye, a robot who is learning how to process personal emotions as well as the emotions of others. External influencers, such as the media, affect the way we feel about ourselves and others. This module shines a light on the effects of external influencers in order to foster mindful awareness. Students will identify and reflect on external influences of society and examine the impact these influencers can have on the decisions we make. What do all types of love have in common? Teach your students about different types of relationships and how love is represented through respect for one another.
Students will explore healthy, respectful, and safe relationship examples to learn about healthy conflict. Creating relationships can be challenging for teens. Through examining unhealthy behaviors in relationships, your students will learn the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, and how they can build healthy relationships in their own lives. Once your students understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, how do they ally for them?
This module encourages bystander intervention by teaching students how to be an ally and safely seek help when necessary. Engagement skyrockets when students drive their own learning. I was increasingly worried about those who approached dating with very little purpose, understanding, or direction. Some were apathetic, while others were much too zealous. My biggest concern was their future. I desperately wanted them to experience the joys and fulfillment of a happy marriage and family life. We began talking in earnest about whether the process of developing good relationships was inherent in people or learned. In the end, my wife and I concluded that the skill of developing worthwhile relationships is something a person indeed learns, whether from peers, family, a course or book, culture, traditions, or religious beliefs and practices. We immediately thought of our own children and wondered if we were adequately preparing them for their future relationships. We began exploring ideas on how we could best teach our children to develop appropriate relationships. We wanted to take an intentional approach.
